Mission
To protect and promote public health and prevent disease by assuring the safety and quality of the food supply.
What we do

Develop food safety regulations and policies

Certify food safety managers

Inspect, review plans, and license retail food establishments (restaurants, markets, schools, food trucks) and wholesale food facilities (manufacturers, processors, dairies, shellfish)

Provide 24-hour emergency coverage for fires, accidents, and natural disasters that involve food products

Investigate illness complaints and foodborne disease outbreaks

Deliver education and outreach opportunities to the Rhode Island food service community
