To ensure that refugees and asylees enter into a comprehensive system of care that adequately responds to their unique healthcare needs.
What we do
- Coordinate care by working with refugee resettlement agencies, State programs, and health and social service providers to develop coordinated and comprehensive health services for refugees.
- Assist refugees in meeting the medical screening requirements to adjust their status to a lawful permanent resident (seek a green card).
- Convene partners to identify and resolve system barriers to appropriate care for refugees.
- Train providers to engage in culturally and linguistically appropriate care as mandated by the National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services in Health and Health Care (CLAS). MORE
- Award mini-grants and funding to voluntary agencies (VOLAGs) and resettlement agencies to promote refugee health VIEW RECENT FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
- Perform surveillance of refugee health information for planning and reporting purposes.
