Forensic Sciences Training

Mission

To further educate our stakeholders in accredited ISO/IEC 17025: 2017 forensic science practices, procedures, and results.

What we do

  • Conduct training in evidence collection techniques for biology/DNA/CODIS, controlled substances, and toxicology both in groups at the laboratory and instruct officers enrolled in the Criminal Evidence: Scientific Investigation course at the University of Rhode Island.
  • Train law enforcement officers in the areas of instrument operation, relevant laws, regulations and operational protocols, and drug recognition in motor vehicle operators at state and municipal police academies.
  • Ensure operation with procedures and practices that adhere to the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 International Standard and the FBI’s DNA Quality Assurance Standards for Casework and Databasing Laboratories
