Rhode Island licenses Home Nursing Care Providers and Home Care Providers. Home Nursing Care Providers provide skilled nursing services and can also provide more general home care services (i.e., assistance with daily living and care, housekeeping, companionship, shopping). Home Care Providers do not provide "skilled" services, but can provide assistance with daily living and personal care.
Home Nursing Care Providers can also be certified to meet the federal Medicare services requirements, authorized under federal regulations. Home Nursing Care Providers that are "certified for Medicare" are referred to as Home Health Agencies. MORE
