Mission

To protect and promote health, prevent chronic disease and death among all Rhode Islanders using a comprehensive approach to reduce tobacco initiation, use, and exposure to secondhand and thirdhand smoke.

What we do

  • Eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke.
  • Promote quitting among adults and youth.
  • Prevent initiation among youth and young adults.
  • Identify and eliminate tobacco-related disparities.

Services

A RIDOH service in partnership with National Jewish Health, that provides continuing education opportunities for your practice license in tobacco cessation.

The Rhode Island Nicotine Helpline connects people with nicotine dependency to multi-session live telephone counseling or web coaching, self-help tools, and referrals to other addiction treatment and cessation services.

A RIDOH service that provide tobacco quitting assistance for anyone ages 18+ who smokes cigarettes, uses e-cigarettes or vaping devices, or uses other tobacco products can access free services to treat nicotine addiction through a provider’s referral.
